Most people use a round brush and a blow dryer to straighten hair, but this is difficult to do yourself. A $20 - $30 Styler Dryer from your nearest big chain drugstore is what you need.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Styler Dryer
  • Leave-in hair conditioner
  • Any brand of frizz eliminating hair serum
  1. Step 1

Towel dry shampoo and conditioned hair. BLOT! Do not rub. Rubbing encourages frizz. Brush smooth.

  2. Step 2

Apply a heat activated leave-in conditioner to your hair, concentrating on the ends.

  3. Step 3

Attach the supplied brush to your Styler Dryer, set it on high and grab sections of hair and brush it smooth. Keep moving and don't concentrate the heat too long on your hair. When a section is dry, flip it off to the side or clip it and begin another section. Pull the sections of your hair upward and brush from underneath to help with volume. Continue this method on the rest of your hair and once you get the hang of it, you'll go from wet and curly to straight and dry in approximately 7-10 minutes for medium long hair!

  4. Step 4

Finish up by applying a little anti-frizz serum if needed and touch up the ends with a curling iron. Done!

Tips & Warnings
  • Curly hair tends to be dry, so try not to wash it every day. 3X per week is healthier for your hair. Fight bed head by dampening your hair a little bit and running your styler dryer over it to reclaim yesterday's fabulous hair.
  • Do not expect your hair to remain straight by this method in extremely humid air. If you are going to a party in the summer evenings, expect your hair to curl and frizz, so give into it only a little. Dry your hair straight, but apply lots of anti-frizz serum or a little baby oil to the ends and very outer layer of your hair. Then dampen the outer layer of your hair (water or leave-in conditioner in a spray bottle is best). Let this curl and then "guide" those curls with a skinny curling iron so when the humidity hits the your curls won't just go wild and frizzy, but will follow the curls you started, leaving you with a calmer head of hair. (A little baby powder to the back of your neck, under your hair will help deter moisture there as well.)
  • Use extra virgin coconut on hair occasionally to moisturize. It's oily at first, but dry hair will drink it right in and leave you with smoother hair.
  • Don't try to dry your hair while it's soaking wet. Either blot the hair well or set your dryer on low and blow it without the brush to get rid of excess water. This will keep your hair healthier and time drying shorter.
