Woodside Walking Trail bridge

If you happen to find yourself standing on a bridge on a lovely day, why not try a game of Pooh Sticks? Named for Winnie the Pooh, it's a fun, simple children's game that anyone can play!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A Bridge
  • Water under the Bridge, preferably running water
  • A stick or leaf for each person playing
  1. Step 1

First, you'll need to find a bridge with water underneath, preferably running water. It does not have to be deep water, but it needs to be deep enough so that a stick or leaf can float easily in it. Your biggest challenge will probably be keeping your kids out of the water...but save that fun for later!

  2. Step 2

Next, you'll need either a stick or a large leaf for each person playing. Make sure you can easily identify which stick or leaf belongs to whom...you'll need to know this so you can identify your winner!

  3. Step 3

Standing on the bridge, everyone will drop their leaf or stick in the water on one side of the bridge. This needs to be done at the same time...it's a race! Once the items are dropped, everyone needs to run to the other side of the bridge to see whose stick or leaf passed under the bridge first!

Tips & Warnings
  • This is especially fun for younger children!
  • You can give a prize to the winner...maybe some honey!
  • Never leave small children unattended around water!
