Have a Baby on the Sims 2 Game

In the original Sims game, all you had to do was ask your Sim's loved one if he would like to have a baby, and--if there was an agreement--a baby bassinet would appear out of thin air. However, the Sims 2 offers a more detailed routine to follow to bring that bundle of joy into the world.

Things You'll Need

  • Male and female Sim
  • Double bed, hot tub, or clothing booth

Build a relationship with another Sims 2 character of the opposite sex until 2 pink heart icons appear. This indicates the characters are dating. If the icon does not appear above the couples' heads, check the relationship panel. The relationship panel will permanently track the status of your Sims' relationship and display the same icons.
Note: Do not mistake the single pink heart for the double pink heart. The single pink heart only represents a crush, which is not enough for pregnancy.

There are 3 locations where the option to impregnate a Sim will occur: a double bed, a hot tub or "Public Woohoo," in a clothing booth at a retail store.
Trying in a double bed: Click on the bed, and choose "Relax." The Sim will prop itself on the bed. Have the Sim of the opposite sex do the same. Next, click the Sim's partner and click "Cuddle." Click on the Sim's partner once more, and select "Try for a baby."
Trying in a hot tub: After both Sims have climbed into the hot tub, click on your Sims' partner and select "Cuddle." Then click once more and select "Try for a baby."
Trying in a clothing booth: While your Sim's partner is changing, click on the booth and you can select either "Try for a baby" or "Public Woohoo."
Note: You must click "Try for a baby," not "Woohoo." If the option to "Try for a baby" does not appear, it means that 1 or both of your Sims do not want a child yet. Also, just because you tried for a baby does not mean your Sims will have one. It may take multiple attempts.

If your Sim becomes pregnant, a lullaby will sound directly after your Sims try for a baby. However, if you miss the sound of the lullaby watch for the symptoms of pregnancy for the next 3 days.

Tips & Warnings

  • Becoming Pregnant with Twins: Having twins on the Sims 2 is possible, but it is rare. If your Sim is a twin, the chances will increase slightly, and eating large amounts of cheesecake increases your chance. However, if this is not enough there are cheats online that will force your Sim to have twins. After your Sim becomes pregnant, open the cheat window by pressing: "Ctrl+Shift+c." Select the pregnant Sim and type "forcetwins" into the cheat window followed by pressing "Enter." Male Pregnancy: Same-sex couples cannot try for a baby, but there is a way for a male to become pregnant. Buy a telescope and have your male Sim gaze through it. If Aliens appear, they will abduct the Sim and upon his return he will be pregnant. Gender and looks: On Day 3, your Sim will have its baby. Save your game before the birth so that you may restart the game if you want the opposite gender or do not like the baby's looks.

  • Make sure your Sim has the financial ability and time to care for the child. If the child is not taken care of properly, it will be taken away or it will grow up with negative traits. It is not possible for teenage or elderly Sims to become pregnant, but an elderly man can impregnate a younger female Sim.
