1
Get a copy of the college catalog. The catalog lists all of the classes offered by the school. You will learn what your classes entail, as well as the various requirements you have to meet.
-
2
Buy the required books a month or more in advance to engage in advance reading. Doing this will not only help you get ahead in your studies, but it will also help you understand the class better when school starts.

Record the names and contact information of your professors. You may need to consult the university directory to get their email addresses and telephone numbers. Contact them to tell them of your interest in preparing for the class, and ask if there are any special resources that they can refer you to.

4
Call the academic departments that offer the classes you will be taking. Ask the staff any questions you have about your classes. These departments may have information about past classes, and you may want to look at examples of past projects and assignments.

5
Meet with college friends to discuss classes. Since core classes are required of every student, you may find that some of your friends are taking the same classes as you are. Discuss with them concepts that you've learned through your advance reading. You may be able to gain additional insights from them that will help you in your learning.
