It is extremely important to keep your contact information up to date on your pet's microchip. Without correct information, there is no way to contact the owner once a lost pet is found. Contact the microchip's manufacturer directly or online to update information.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check your microchip registration card or call the veterinarian who inserted the chip to determine where your chip is registered.

  2. Step 2

Go online and log onto the microchip maker's website. Follow the instructions to "Update Contact Information."

  3. Step 3

If you do not have access to the Internet, call the microchip's manufacturer and ask to update your information.

Tips & Warnings
  • Change your pet's microchip information before you move to ensure correct information. Provide one piece of contact information that rarely changes such as an email address or cell phone number.
  • Be sure to keep paying your annual microchip fee, otherwise the service will be deactivated and contact information, updated or not, will be unable to be retrieved.
