How to Use Albuterol MDI

Albuterol MDI is an asthma inhaler. MDI stands for metered dose inhaler. Another name for this is a rescue, or fast-acting inhaler. These inhalers are used during an asthma attack. When improperly used, the correct dose may not get to you. Because asthma can be fatal, it is critical to learn the proper way to use your albuterol mdi.

Instructions

    • 1

Shake your inhaler before each use, and remove the cap.

    • 2

Test spray your inhaler three to four times in the air.

    • 3

Insert inhaler in your mouth. Inhale deeply while depressing the top of the metal canister.

    • 4

Hold your breath as long as you can and exhale.

    • 5

      Repeat if prescribed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always carry your albuterol mdi with you. Make sure to follow your doctor's directions on how often you use your albuterol mdi. If you are using it more than twice a week, speak to him about other medications to get your asthma under control.

  • If your albuterol mdi does not help your asthma symptoms subside within a few minutes, immediately seek medical help.
