  1. How to Write a Dance CV

    • 1

Compile all pertinent information. Before you sit down to actually write your CV, you should compile all of the information that should potentially be included. You should list your academic education, your dance training, performance experience and teaching experience. You should also make a list of major summer programs that you have attended and major teachers with whom you have studied.

    • 2

Tailor the information to the job you are applying for. Now that you have the information compiled, you should decide what to include and what to highlight based on the job for which you are applying. If you are applying for a performance job, you should highlight your performance experience and your training. If you are applying for a teaching job, you should highlight your teaching experience and your training. If you are applying for an administrative job, you should emphasize your academic education.

    • 3

Include your name and contact information prominently. Type your name and contact information at the top of the resume. This should be easy to read and the first thing the reader sees. Be sure to use information that will not change frequently so that you will be reachable if someone tries to contact you several months from now to offer you a job.

    • 4

Type the rest of your information. Once you have decided what should be included, type it into your CV. Ensure that you include performance dates, dates of study and other relevant information. If you are using former employers as references, be sure to include their current contact information.

    • 5

Proofread. It is essential that your CV be completely free from typographical and factual errors. Proofread it several times, and then ask someone else to look at it with fresh eyes. You do not want to lose a job because of careless errors on your resume.

    • 6

Print your resume on nice resume paper. This can be purchased at any office-supply store and will add a professional touch to your resume.

Tips & Warnings

  • Many dancers add photos to the back of their resume. This is not required but may give an employer more information about you. If you choose to do this, choose a high-quality professional photo, and make sure that the photo is relevant to the job for which you are applying.
