Eyeshadow is one simple way to add some serious color to your ensemble. Express your youth with wild color combinations or coordinate your eyeshadow with what you are wearing. Choose colors that will best express your personality and speak to your teenage lifestyle.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Light liquid or powder foundation
  • Eyeshadow in a variety of colors
  • Eyeshadow brushes
  1. Step 1

Apply a light liquid or powder foundation over the eyelids and below the lower lids. This acts as a base coat that will help colors stand out and look fresh all day long.

  2. Step 2

Apply a light color for a highlight just under your eyebrow. This can also extend to the side of your face slightly beyond your eyebrow to really light up your eyes. Shimmery colors work great and for this area, a light silver, white or pink is perfect.

  3. Step 3

Apply a medium tone with the eyeshadow brush across the lower part of your upper lid and lash line. Experiment with how many coats and how much to apply. The more you apply, the more dramatic the color will appear. Have some fun with this tone; it should be darker than the highlight below the eyebrow but not as dark as the color you use for the next step.

  4. Step 4

Use a thin eyeshadow brush to apply a dark color into the crease of your upper eyelid and around to the outer corner of your eye. This is a perfect opportunity to use an intense color like purple, black, turquoise or orange to express your personality and match your outfit.

  5. Step 5

Apply eyeshadow to the lower lash line if desired. You can apply the same color to the inner corner of your eye as you did to your upper lash line, or you can go for a more dramatic look for a night out and use black, white or the dark color used in the crease of your eyelid.

Tips & Warnings
  • Apply mascara and eyeliner after eyeshadow. The shadow builds up at the base of your lashes, so when you apply mascara and/or eyeliner, lashes have a thicker, healthier-looking base--not to mention it gives your eyes a much more dramatic look. Have fun with your eyeshadow! It's an inexpensive way to put a creative spin on your look.
  • Some individuals have sensitive eyes and skin. Most eyeshadow and other cosmetics are made with non-hypoallergenic formulas that will decrease the likelihood of having a reaction.
