If you have a case of bees in the wall, it is important to remove them as soon as possible to avoid risks. Bees can be harmful both to the house and to the people in the area. It is critical to take the proper measures to remove the bees so that further damage or harm will not be caused and to prevent their return.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wasp or hornet spray containing pyrethroids
  • Protective clothing
  • Hammer
  • Wall repair kit
  1. Step 1

Put on protective clothing before approaching the hive. A bee suit is best, but if you do not have one, wear thick clothing that will cover as much of the body as possible. Consider wearing goggles and a hat as well.

  2. Step 2

Determine the exact location of the hive in the wall. This may require the use of a hammer to make holes in the wall.

  3. Step 3

Spray wasp or hornet spray on the hive. This is best done at night because all the bees will be in the hive and will be less active.

  4. Step 4

Repeat Step 3 a few more times because the bees may have had pupa (babies) protected in the hive. Spray every two or three days until there are no more bees.

  5. Step 5

Clean any honey in the hive so the smell will not attract additional bees.

  6. Step 6

Use a wall repair kit to seal off any holes so bees will not return.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you don't wish to kill the bees, contact a beekeeper in your area and ask if he would be willing to remove the bees for you. Be prepared to pay him for his time.
  • Bees will often become aggressive when they sense a danger to their hive. Use caution and wear protective clothing. If you are allergic to bees, do not attempt to remove them yourself. Leave it to a professional, as there is a good chance you will be stung.
