Be Frugal With Food

There is no doubt that food can be a large expense every month. So if you are interested in living a more frugal lifestyle, check out these steps to get your grocery bill down but keep your taste buds watering!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A budget
  1. Step 1

First, brown bag your career every now and then! One of the single biggest expenses a person can have is going out to eat for lunch. When you calculate how much this costs each month, you may be surprised at the number. Instead, try bringing your own lunch to work, or ordering a salad now and then. Going for that nice restaurant on the other side of your office every week may be hurting you not only in the belly, but in that wallet of yours as well!

  2. Step 2

Second, use coupons when applicable. Don't be embarrassed or scared to use them at the grocery store, that's what they are there for anyway! Take advantage of deals, and plan your grocery trips around them. Stock up on the essentials when they are on sale, and consider skimping on the snacks and dessert items when prices are higher.

  3. Step 3

Go cheap for your breakfast options. Many people don't have a lot of time to eat in the mornings, so they decide to pick up something on the way to work. This is a bad idea, as you'll end up paying twice the price for the cinnamon roll at a fast food joint then if you bought it at the grocery store. Better yet, stick to things like cereal, yogurt, and bananas. They are healthier anyway!
