Many knitters know the frustration of trying to use brand new circular knitting needles only to have them curl oddly or wind around in strange ways. This is due to the plastic cord being curled to fit in the package, but fortunately there is an easy solution for this problem. But, only do this to uncurl metal or plastic knitting needles. Don't do it with wood or bamboo.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Circular knitting needles
  • Medium saucepan
  • Water
  • 2 towels (optional)
  1. Step 1

Bring a medium sized saucepan of water to a simmer and then turn it off.

  2. Step 2

Place the circular knitting needles in the water for less than a minute, and then remove them.

  3. Step 3

Using your thumb and forefinger, work the plastic cord that links the needles together back into shape.

  4. Step 4

If the plastic is stubborn, stretch out the needles and place them between 2 towels. Put a weight on top. If the plastic cord is especially stubborn, this might take up to a week.
