Make your date's first visit a positive experience

The first time you have a date over, you might worry about what to wear or which meal to make. But the state of your house or apartment is equally as important when it comes to the impression you'll make. Here are a few points to consider before having your date over for the first time.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

    Clean the Bathroom

Bathrooms get inspected by company far more than any other room. It's the one room a visitor may be in alone, so the opportunity to really take a look at things will be very high. To combat this, make sure you thoroughly clean every inch of the room. Keep the mirrors, toilet area, and floors so clean your date won't become put off at the sight of dirt or grime.

The bathroom is also the area that is notoriously snooped through. Curiosity can get the best of a visitor at times. To combat this, do an inspection in the medicine cabinet and drawers yourself before your date arrives. Remove anything you wouldn't want your date to see.

  2. Step 2

    Clear the Clutter

A house filled with clothes and books everywhere is unappealing. Clutter is a turnoff! Pick up everything out of place and find a home for it. View your home or apartment as your date would. Pretend you are seeing it for the first time so you can get a good idea of how it really looks when you first enter.

  3. Step 3
Put on some romantic music. (http://www.sxc.hu/photo/1190521)

    Preselect Music

Have some soft music playing in the background by the time your date arrives. Set your CD player to automatically play a serious of romantic tunes. If your CD player doesn't do this, pull out all the CDs you want to play ahead of time so you're not digging for music while your date waits.

  4. Step 4

    Set the Mood

If you want romance, don't wait until your date gets there to light candles and dim the lights. Prep it ahead of time, so when your date walks in the right atmosphere and tone is set.
