Asni is the first village on the road from Marrakesh towards the Tisi-in-Test Pass.  Orchards surround the village fulfilling the needs for sustenance.  From Asni, there are mule tracks that lead to the plateau overlooking Asni and the surrounding area.  Asni is well known for the High Atlas trekking to Imlil and Jbel Toubkal.

When you sign up for the custom Morocco holidays to Asni and Tinzert you will travel from Marrakesh to Oukaimden to Tizi N'Oukaimden.  Tizi N'Oukaimden is 2800 meters.  From here the tour continues to Agadir In'Ouzdoud, and Gliz.  The entire first day will take three hours of trekking.  The other days will be five to six hours of trekking time.  Oukaimden is the base for mountain hikes in the summer, and makes a great ski area for the winter.

  3. Step 3

Oukaimden is about an hour outside of Marakkesh.  As a starting point Oukaimden is a lovely place to get some pictures of the surrounding land.  The greenery in summer is magnificent to record for memories to take home with you. This is one of the biggest ski areas in Morocco, capable of handling thousands of tourist at a time.

  4. Step 4

On day two, you'll move on to Gliz, Imzoure, and Tizi Nitraten, which is 2200 meters.  From Tizi Nitraten is Amskarou, Tizi Nougrssiwal, Agrssiwal, and the Matat Guesthouse.  At this point you will be about 1900 meters up in the High Atlas Mountains.

The next day will be more hiking with a great reward in the middle of the day.  From Matat your tour guide will guide you to Tizi Wodid, which is back up the mountainous area to 2200 meters.  Azaden Valley will be the next area you will reach. The valley is your reward for a morning of hiking.  You will be able to stop here for more pictures, as well as a bit of lunch.  There is nothing like exploring the High Atlas Mountains and resting in a beautiful valley filled with a variety of flora and fauna.  After a meal, the Id Aissa towards the Tizi Oussem guesthouse will be your next destination.  Here you will rest for the night, enjoying a bit of culture within the surrounding village.

Tizi Oussem is still in the valley region, placing you at 1850 meters.  The next morning the trekking tour will bring you to Tizi Mzik at 2400 meters.  You will again descend after lunch to the Berdoun, and finally Armed at 2000 meters.  The Armed is a guesthouse, and a lovely location for your last night trekking Morocco and the High Atlas Mountains.

  6. Step 6

The last day is spent walking from Armed to Imlil, and driving back to Marrakesh. The trekking from Armed will take you one hour.  The region of Asni and Tinzert is plentiful with villages, valleys, and greenery.  Spending five days on a custom Morocco holiday in this land is well worth the trip. It's one of the best ways to get a beind-the-scenes look at the real yet changing Morocco peoples and landscapes.
