If you are new to The Sims 3, likely you are stumped on how to switch over to play as another Sim family. I know I was. The solution though is simple, so simple it's embarrassing!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • The Sims 3 for PC
  1. Step 1

So you are playing The Sims 3, and now you are bored with the Sim family you have been controlling. Why not switch it up, and play another Sims 3 family?
At first you may be stumped. I know I was, and it took me forever to figure out the simple solution to playing the game as another family.

  2. Step 2

While playing the game, go over to the left side menu, and click 'EDIT TOWN'

  3. Step 3

Once you are in the Edit Town mode, there will be a small icon on the far left side of your screen shaped like a little house. Click this in order to CHANGE ACTIVE HOUSEHOLD.

  4. Step 4

The game will ask you if you are sure, and let you know that the family you were playing will loose all of their wishes. This is okay, so long as you are okay with loosing their wishes. YOU WILL NOT lose any reward points though! So it's okay to switch to another family, and come back to your original family later.

  5. Step 5

Next you simply pick a new household to play with, or create a new family. Ta-dah! Easy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Go into Edit Town Mode to switch families

on 11/24/2009 We have played Sims 2 and we were able to play several players in one game - in Sims 3 we cant figure out how to do that - we have 4 people that play and it only allows 4 games plus we cannot become friends with each other. Is this the solution to serveal players in one town.
