Step 1
Think about what you are going to sell. Buttons, earrings, homemade wallets, these are all some of the popular items on etsy. If you have access to some commercial product used for arts and crafts like a hot glue gun, this is also a popular choice.
-
Step 2
Visit etsy.com and register an account. The account set up process is similar to any other online marketplace. Make sure you have a paypal account or google checkout account because that's the way you get paid when you sell something.
-
Step 3
You'll need an avenue for shipping your product. You can set up an account with USPS.com and get free boxes from them, which is what I highly suggest. The postal service has all kinds of free packaging stuff online.
-
Step 4
List your items online. Etsy charges a flat fee of 20 cents to list the items and 3.5% of the sakes price. You can recover this cost in your shipping but don't charge too much.
-
Step 5
Take pictures and list your items, the etsy lister is nice because you don't need to know any code to make a listing.

on 8/20/2009 Etsy sounds more targeted than eBay. My mother loves making crafts. I'll let her know about making money on etsy and your article.
