Short hair is best during the hot summer months.

Cutting your hair every three to four months can cost hundreds of dollars each year. That is why cutting your hair at home is a cost effective solution - if you're brave enough to do so. Cutting a women's hair in a blunt, short hair style is a task that seems difficult, however it is one of the most basic techniques for cutting hair. In under an hour, you can cut a short, blunt hair style at home for free.

    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Comb
    • Spray water bottle
    • Hair clips
    • Hair cutting scissors
      • 1

Comb hair thoroughly to remove any tangles. Spray hair with a spray water bottle, and continue to comb. The hair needs to be completely wet and straight in order to achieve an even cut.

      • 2

Pull the top layer of the hair up, leaving a 2-inch section around the neckline. Hold the top layers of your hair up with hair clips to keep the hair out of the way.

      • 3

Comb the bottom layer of the hair thoroughly, and lift hair vertically between your index and middle finger. Hold your hand up vertically, and cut hair along the fingers using hair scissors. The hair at the bottom should be shorter, and gradually become longer as you move upward.

      • 4

Comb the cut hair, and lift up another small section in addition to the cut section between your index and middle finger. Pull the hair tightly in a vertical manner, and cut the new section. Use the previously cut section as a guide to the length you want to achieve.

      • 5

Repeat the cutting process along the entire base layer of your hair. Remove clips, and comb all hair, and allow another 2-inch section to fall down, clipping the top area back up.

      • 6

Comb the new section thoroughly, wetting the hair as you comb.

      • 7

Separate a small section near the face in the new section, and lift the hair vertically between your index and middle finger. Hold your hand up vertically, and cut the hair along the fingers using the hair scissors. Use the previously cut section as a guiding point to determine the length to cut.

      • 8

Comb cut hair, and lift up another small section in addition to the cut section between your index and middle finger. Pull the hair tightly in a vertical manner and cut the new section. Use the previously cut section as a guide to the length you want to achieve.

      • 9

Repeat Steps 7 and 8 with the remaining hair in the mid-section of the head. Lower the top section, and cut your hair in the same manner.
