In tough economic times, many people are looking for ways to make extra money, but may not have a schedule that allows for a part-time job. There are a couple of things you can do at your current job to make a little extra cash to help you through these tough times.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Money Jar
  • Space to set up
  • Permission from your supervisor
  1. Step 1

Snack Bar: Create a snack bar in your very own office or cubicle. Put out a variety of $.25 and $.50 items to sell to your coworkers. The lower the price the better (people are all hurting for money and can be very stingy) This will be especially effective if your office does not have a vending machine. The honor system can be tough if you have a coworker who doesn't play by the rules, but overall this method is typically effective.

  2. Step 2

Provide Drinks: In addition to snack foods, offer up a variety of water, soda, juice and other drinks that will entice people. Most people love variety, so giving them several choices will be best for your business.

  3. Step 3

Cutlery: Many times people forget a fork or spoon- so offer a package of a fork, knife, spoon and napkin (neatly bundled together) to sell for a quarter. You can purchase these items at a wholesale store for $10 or less, and you can make up to $20 profit just for providing this valuable service.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take requests- you will find that you might have frequent purchasers if you appeal to specific individuals' sweet tooth.
  • Take bills out of the change jar and allow individuals to make change with the quarters or other small denominations that are left.
  • Pay attention to what you pay- if you try to sell candy bars for a quarter, you will lose money. Try to price them just over what you bought them for, and you will have great results over time.
  • Get permission from your supervisor- losing your job over candy sales is not a fair exchange!
