Mosaic Tray
Mosaic Tray

Create a Mosaic Tray with broken plates and a focal tile.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Focal Tile
  • Broken Plates or Tiles
  • Clear Adhesive or Glue
  • Tile Grout
  • Tile Nippers
  • Sponge
  • Spray Paint
  1. Step 1

This was a Black Metal Tray that I found at an antique shop. I lightly sanded it and painted it white.

  2. Step 2

Glue the focal tile to the center of the Tray and let dry.

  3. Step 3

Break old plates into small pieces with nippers and glue the broken plate pieces around the focal tile and let dry. Broken plate pieces can be sharp and can cut skin. Handle carefully.

  4. Step 4

Spread tile grout on tray and into the spaces between the tiles. Let dry for 10 minutes and wipe away excess. Let dry over night. Once dry, the tile grout will leave a white haze on the tiles that can be cleaned off with the scrubby side of a sponge.

  5. Step 5
