Fluidmaster fill valves are among the best in the industry, and are featured in toilet brands including Kohler, Eljer, and Briggs. Their design replaces the old ballcock style fill valve, and all of its inefficiencies. They are easy to install and easy to maintain. They fill the tank quickly and quietly, and will fit any toilet.
Turn the water off that supplies the toilet tank. Use a sponge to remove all the water from the tank area so it will not spill out when you remove the old fill valve.

Unscrew the fittings and remove the old fill valve from the tank. Use pliers if you need to.

Unstack the lock nut, shank washer, angle adapter, cone washer, and coupling nut for the new fill valve. Remove the cone washer from the shank washer and put the shank washer on the new valve. Place the new valve through the tank supply hole with the flat surface of the shank washer against the valve.

Adjust the fill valve so the critical level (C. L.) mark is one inch above the overflow pipe by twisting the threaded shank in or out of the fill valve.

Place the end of the fill valve through the water supply hole again and push down on the valve shank. Thread the lock nut onto the fill valve and tighten the lock nut by hand. Be sure the float cup does not touch anything else in the toilet tank. No plumber's putty is needed to seal these fittings.

Attach the water supply line to the fill valve. Attach the fill tube to the nipple near the top of the valve. Trim the tube with scissors if necessary.

Turn the water supply on and allow the tank to fill with water. Flush the water once to test the functionality of the fill valve.
