How to Create a Ticker

A ticker is a popular way to count down to an event in a person's life. Tickers are normally found in signatures on message board forums. The most popular tickers show countdowns to birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and vacations. The most popular ticker websites are Daisypath.com, Lilypie.com and Tickerfactory.com. Most ticker sites are free, but to access advanced features such as changing the color and font of the text in the ticker might require registration and a fee.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to Tickerfactory.com. This site does not require you register to create a ticker. Choose a category from the list and click.

    • 2

Type the date of your event in the "Event Date" drop-down arrow boxes. Give the event a name. You will need to adjust what the current date and your local time is. Click "Next" near the bottom of the screen.

    • 3

Choose your ticker design. There are many to choose from. Click the button next to the design, then click "Next."

    • 4

Choose your ticker slider. There are sliders that match the ticker design. Click the button next to it and click "Next."

    • 5

Decide what size ticker to use and the type of background you want. A light background will show as a transparent background, while a dark one will have a black background. Click the corresponding buttons. Your ticker is ready to be used. You can copy and paste the code for a signature or post it to a website. You also have the option of configuring another ticker.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some ticker websites allow you to upload a picture next to either side of your ticker. Make sure the website accepts the file extension and the picture is not too large.

  • When paying to access more ticker options on sites that require a fee, be sure the website is legitimate and you are not just giving your information to anyone.
