How to Cure Chest Acne

In addition to the face and back, acne commonly affects the chest area. It can be quite embarrassing to have acne on your chest, especially if you wear low-cut blouses and V-neck shirts. Excessive sweating and synthetic fabrics are two of the main causes of chest acne. Synthetic fabrics trap sweat against your skin where it mingles with acne-causing bacteria and forms pimples. Use salicylic acid to help cure and prevent acne lesions on your chest. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Wash your chest with a gentle cleanser every night before bed. This will remove surface dirt, oil and sweat that can clog pores and cause pimples. Pat the area dry with a soft, clean towel.

    • 2

Apply a thin layer of salicylic acid lotion onto your chest. Salicylic acid is a popular acne medication that rids your pores of bacteria and dirt.

    • 3

Wait about five minutes for the salicylic acid lotion to dry, then put on a clean cotton shirt. Cotton is a natural fabric that allows your skin to breathe and prevents irritation. Avoid synthetic fabrics like spandex and polyester.

    • 4

Wash your chest with cleanser every morning, then apply an oil-free moisturizer. Salicylic acid can cause your skin to become dry and flaky. Moisturizer will keep your skin hydrated and soft.

Tips & Warnings

  • Repeat this routine every night. Acne should begin to clear up within a few days.

  • Avoid putting perfume or cologne directly onto your chest; the oils from the fragrances can clog pores and irritate your skin. Stop using salicylic acid if excessive drying or redness occur.
