Turn off your Rain Bird lawn sprinkler system.

Find the sprinkler head you want to adjust and look for the screw on the top of it. Tighten the screw a few turns with the screwdriver to reduce the distance the sprinkler head sprays.

Adjust the direction the water sprays. Grip the sprinkler head and turn the nozzle in the direction you want the water to spray. This is a good way to keep sprinklers from watering sidewalks and streets instead of grass.

Pull up on the stem of a VAN, or variable arc nozzle, and turn it left or right to adjust how far it sprays. The numbers on the nozzle are how many feet the head will spray if turned to that number.
