Step 1
Insert the device's USB plug into the port on your computer and position the mouse on your desired side (e.g., to the right of the keyboard for easy access). Wait for the computer to register the added device.

Insert the device's USB plug into the appropriate slot on your computer. Insert the CD containing the SetPoint software for Windows or the Logitech Control Center for Mac into your CD/DVD drive. The CD contains an automatic installation file; if installation doesn't begin shortly after inserting the CD, then double-click the file "setup.exe" on the CD in Windows, or on the Mac double-click the "Logitech Control Center Installation" file on the CD to install the latest driver for the mouse.

Accept the end user agreement in the setup wizard by clicking "I Agree" and the "Next" button. Check the radio button for left-handed or right-handed to designate the orientation of the device. Click the "Next" button to continue.

Step 4
Select your desired speed for clicking and tracking by moving the sliders and checking the boxes next to the desired options. Click the "Next" button to continue.

Select your desired functions/commands and assign the buttons on your mouse by clicking the boxes next to the options. Click the "Next" button to save the settings. Click the "Finish" button to exit the setup wizard.

Check the desired options of the mouse, scroll wheel and buttons to ensure proper functionality. Buttons can be programmed for regular functions, such as starting your music player and changing the volume, or accessing frequently used programs. The buttons can be used in conjunction with the scroll wheel, for example, holding down a button while using the scroll wheel to pan across the screen or to select text.
