A skin mole, or melanocytic nevus, is a skin legion that contains nevus cells. Acquired moles are moles that appear throughout a person's life, and congenital moles occur from birth. Moles are usually darker than the person's skin in color and are raised from the skin. Any mole is at risk for melanoma, or skin cancer, although congenital warts have a higher risk. One popular home remedy for removing moles is by treating the mole with garlic oil.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Place masking tape directly on the skin surrounding the mole. Box the mole in as much as possible without covering the mole.

  2. Step 2

Apply liquid garlic extract to the mole with a cotton ball. Liquid garlic extract can be purchased at your local health food store.

  3. Step 3

Place a Band-Aid over the mole and garlic extract. Two more times throughout the day, remove the Band-Aid, add more garlic extract with a new cotton ball, and place another Band-Aid on top.

  4. Step 4

Remove and replace the masking tape from the skin surrounding the mole every night before bed.

  5. Step 5

Continue the process for two to four days. If the mole has not reduced or dried out, discontinue use and see a doctor for further mole removal suggestions.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use body spray to prevent the garlic smell from permeating through your clothing.
  • Applying garlic directly to your skin may result in burns--do not apply directly to skin.
