Instructions

    • 1

Start with a focal point. Use a woods-themed peel-and-stick mural for one wall to create a wilderness feel. Select a mural that includes a deer or bear, depending on the hunting interests. Order the mural online or pick up at a sporting goods specialty store. Place the mural so that the base of the mural sits right below the bed, or put it on a wall you intend to leave open so that the mural is visible.

    • 2

Hide the bed with camouflage bedding. Popular camouflage makers such as Realtree and Mossy Oak make camouflage bedding including comforters, pillowcases and coordinating sheets and shams. "Camo" bedding is a great choice for warmth and the hunting theme.

    • 3

Decorate the walls with hunting supplies and vintage items. Hang vintage or antique rifles (that have been locked or the barrels sealed up,) on the wall and fill a clear shadow box with spent shell casings to add a splash of red and gold. Display a classic crossbow or use a family hunting trophy (deer head) over a desk or television area.

    • 4

Group some personal photos on a rustic bookshelf. Hang a rough-hewn slice of wood (with the bark facing out) on book shelf brackets. Sand the top smooth and display black- or wood-framed hunting photographs along the shelf.

    • 5

Place a novelty area rug in front of the bed or behind a desk to add interest to the floor. You can find rugs with wildlife scenes or in camouflage pattern or, you can use a faux bear or sheepskin to warm up the floor.

    • 6

Accessorize with rustic iron lamps, antler lamps or other novelty hunting lighting. Cut-work metal lamp bodies often feature moose or deer silhouettes , or choose an antler lamp for a bedside table. For smaller children, get a hunting themed nightlight at any large sporting goods store.

Tips & Warnings

  • Shop local thrift stores to find cheap hunting items to hang on the walls. Ask your hunting friends and family to save their shell casings for you for use as an accessory in a deep picture frame or bowl.

  • Don't overdo the camouflage in the hunting room. A little fits well with the theme, but too much will distract from other hunting features.
