With everyone pinching pennies now, it may not be the best time to buy new outfits. Luckily, you can easily increase the mileage of the clothes you own with just a few accessories.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

To start off, a simple scarf can totally change the feel of an outfit. For a European look, you can wear a silk scarf tied around the neck like a choker. It adds a pop of color and sophistication. To cinch in a simple dress, use the scarf as a belt. You can also tie the scarf around the neck when wearing a blouse so that it hangs like a tie. Experiment with different looks. To save some money, you can usually find some great silk scarves at Goodwill.

  2. Step 2

Next, try a colorful belt to change up the look of an outfit. You can cinch in a dress or add some flare to some pants. Wear the belt loosely hanging off the hips around a dress for a casual look. You can also use a belt to give a loose shirt or dress an empire waistline. Use your imagination.

  3. Step 3

Finally, jewelry can definitely change the look or feel of an outfit. Make a simple dress more formal by adding some costume jewelry. A vintage brooch can add interest to a simple cardigan or jacket. You can even add a brooch to a plain purse. Even jeans and a tank top can be dressed up with a great silver necklace, some heels and a fun clutch.

  4. Step 4

You can refresh your entire wardrobe just by adding some different accessories. Use your creativity and have fun!
