Are you wondering why your reel mower isn't cutting the same as it used to? Want to make cleaning your push lawnmower easier and cut down on wear and tear? Below are some quick and easy tips to service a reel mower.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • WD-40
  1. Step 1

    Thoroughly clean the underside of the reel mower with a hose to get out all the big chunks of grass.

  2. Step 2

    Then use a damp rag and wipe down all the blades and cutting surfaces until everything is squeaky clean.

  3. Step 3

    Make sure that everything is dried completely before this last step. Now that the lawnmower is dry spray some WD-40 on all cutting surfaces and along the underside of the shield if your reel mower has one. This will prevent things grass from getting stuck, making it easier to clean in the future. It will also lubricate and protect from water damage and rusting.

  4. Step 4

    Allow the WD-40 to dry before the next use so as not to damage the lawn in any way.

    Your lawnmower should now be in tiptop shape for the rest of the season.

Tips & Warnings
  • A little WD-40 can go a long way. You don't need to soak the parts in it.
  • Be cautious of the cutting blades and wear some gloves to prevent cuts.
