Keep Animals Away From Your Campsite

Camping is a great outdoor activity that allows you to get in touch with nature and get away from it all.

As much fun as camping is, sometimes you get some uninvited guests such as ants, snakes or sometimes, but hopefully not, a bear. So how do you keep these pests away from your campsite?

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Rope
  • Sealed Containers
  1. Step 1

One of the most important things to do is while camping is to properly store food. You want to keep food in sealed containers and keep the containers in a bag about 15 to 25 feet off of the ground. This will prevent animals that happen to be in the area from wandering into your campsite.

  2. Step 2

Keep the area clean. Don't leave food or dirty dishes laying around, don't leave food or trash in your tent and don't leave items that have fragrances out, like toothpaste, it may smell like food to animals in the area.

  3. Step 3

Do not pile up firewood near your campsite. Animals like snakes and mice like small dark areas. Try to have only the amount of firewood you need for that day near your campsite, but if you feel the need to stock up on firewood store it away from your campsite.
