Step 1
First thing you need to do is keep up a good list of every single gift every person gave you. I cannot count the thank you notes I have received that say thank you for the gift. I really appreciate it. Then they sign their name. You must take these small, extra steps to show you really appreciate their kindness. This will make sure each note is personal. Do not type thank you letters and especially do not cut and paste. Make sure you write the note by hand and list out any and every gift they gave you, even if they gave you a bunch of small gifts. They add up. If you went out and bought diapers, baby wipes, some cute outfits, medicine dropper, and maybe other stuff, and your thank you note just said a simple thank you, it would probably upset you.

Step 2
After making sure you list all gifts, personalize the letter to who you are writing it to. Try to include something that the person can relate to. For example, I joked with my aunt the before our baby shower that my wife would be changing all the diapers. Remembering this, I wrote that the diapers would come in handy when my wife was changing diapers! This shows I was thinking of the person writing to and shows I really appreciate the gift.

Step 3
The final thing I try to remember when writing a thank you note is length. Just like Ehow requires a certain amount of words to qualify for a legitimate article, so should your thank you note. If you spend time writing these notes and add personal messages, this really shows your appreciation to those loved ones that spent their time buying you all those nice gifts. A personalized, well written thank you note is a small token of appreciation that can really go a long way to those that care for you.
