Things You'll Need:
- Fish hook earwires
- 1.25-inch and 1.5-inch headpins
- Round nose pliers
- Needle nose pliers
- Sterling silver earring drops (with one to four openings)
- Crystal beads (4, 6 and 8 mm)
- Sterling silver beads
-
Step 1
Layout a design for the dangle part of your earrings with crystal and sterling silver beads. Alternate colors and graduate the sizes of the crystal beads, up to 1-inch long. Fill in with one or two sterling silver beads for effect and to tie in the silver earwire, especially if you are planning to dangle from an earring drop.
-
Step 2
Thread the beads onto the headpin. Hold the end of the headpin with your round nose pliers and twist to make a closed loop.
-
Step 3
Open the loop on two fish hook earwires with your needle nose pliers. Hook the loop you made in Step 2 over the open loop and then close it with your pliers to make a simple dangle earring. Repeat all of the steps to make a set of earrings.
-
Step 1
Design your earrings with fish hook earwires, an earring drop with one or more openings and dangles to hang from each opening. Designing the dangles based on the number of openings you have, one, three or five, and the desired overall length of your earrings. For example, if you select drops with three openings, you may prefer to stagger the dangles, making the one in the center slightly longer than the two on each side. Make the side dangles with 1.25-inch headpins and the center dangle with a 1.5-inch headpin.
-
Step 2
Repeat Steps 1 and 2 of the previous section, but do not close the loop. Make as many dangles as you have openings on the set of drops you selected.
-
Step 3
Hook the dangles onto each opening of your earring drops. Close the loops on the dangles as you go with needle nose pliers.
-
Step 4
Open the loop on two fish hook earwires. Hook the top of your earring drop through the loop and close it.
