Microsoft Windows Vista update "KB938371" is required before the installation or uninstallation of Windows Vista Service Pack 1. The update improves system stability so that your computer doesn't crash, or suffer any damaging effects while you're installing Service Pack 1, or removing it from the Windows Vista operating system.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Open your Web browser and navigate to Microsoft's homepage.

  2. Step 2

    Run the mouse pointer over "Downloads & Trials," and a drop-down menu will appear. Click on "Download Center."

  3. Step 3

    Enter "KB938371" in the Microsoft Download Center search bar, and press the "Enter" key.

  4. Step 4

    Click on the "KB938371" link for the version of Windows Vista that you have. There is a x32 operating system and a x64 operating system.

  5. Step 5

    Click on "Download" on the download page, and click on "Open."

  6. Step 6

    Allow the download permission to access Windows Vista. With permission, the download will automatically be installed on the computer.
