How to Enable Registry Editing

The registry on your computer is the database of the files on your computer. Accessed through the "Run" menu on Windows programs, the registry is responsible for housing all of the internal files for most of your programs. It can be used to manually clear out the files on your computer when necessary, and by enabling registry editing, you are giving yourself the ability to remove programs that are locked into your system.

      Click the "Start" menu on the lower left of your desktop and type "gpedit.msc" into the empty text bar.

      Click on "User Configuration" in the resulting populated list and click "Administrative Templates" in the next window.

      Click "System" in the "Administrative Templates" menu.

      Select "Disable" on the option that prevents access to your registry editing tools and click "OK" on the following pop-up.

      Restart your computer for the changes to save to your system.
