How to Test Dual Channel Memory

Testing dual channel memory is an important diagnostic tool for ascertaining whether new memory is fully functional or older already installed memory has failed in some way. Testing dual channel memory provides information as to whether a memory module is fully or only partial functional. Also, testing dual channel memory is an easy process for any computer user.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Download and burn a Memtest86 ISO. A link to Memtest86's homepage is provided below.

  2. Step 2

    Insert the medium created for Memtest86 and restart your computer.

  3. Step 3

    Allow Memtest86 to boot from the burned disc. Memtest86 will automatically begin testing your dual channel memory. During this time any errors will be reported on the screen for your review.

Tips & Warnings
  • Memtest86 will continue to run and test memory for errors as long as you allow it to run. It is recommended that you run Memtest86 for 12 hours or more to reliably determine dual channel memory's stability.
