iPhoto 9 is a photo managing application that assists you in organizing photos through tagging and categorizing, as well as providing basic editing tools to touch up a photo. Since iPhoto is bundled with iLife, you'll need to hold on to the installation disc in case iPhoto needs to be re-installed for any reason. As with any program, you should back up your important files before re-installing.

Step 1

Go to Apple.com. Click the "Downloads" tab at the top of the browser window, and click the "All Downloads" tab located on the left side of the screen. Click "System/Disk Utilities" and click the "Alphabetical" tab. Scroll down and click "Amnesia 1.1" link.

Step 2

Click the "Download" button to download the application. Drag the "Amnesia" icon to your "Applications" folder to install the software. Click "Go" at the top of your menu and select "Applications" from the drop-down menu. Double-click "Amnesia 1.1" to run the application. Click the "Continue" button until you reach the license agreement, followed by clicking "Agree" and "Continue."

Step 3

Click the "Applications" button at the top of the Amnesia window. Scroll down the list of applications and click "iPhoto" once to highlight it. Click the "Mark for Removal" button, followed by clicking the "Uninstall" button. Click the "Yes, Remove These Items" button, and type in your system administrator password. Click "OK" to proceed.

Step 4

Insert the iLife installation disc into your disc drive. Follow the onscreen instructions, and select "Custom Install." Uncheck all of the items except for iPhoto, and click "Continue."
