How to Embed Album Art

Embedding album art is the act of permanently attaching a piece of art to an MP3 file. This is done so that no matter what program you choose to put the song into, the album art will always appear the way you intended it without the need for an Internet connection. There are a lot of programs that allow you to do this, but the easiest by far is Apple's iTunes.

Instructions

1. Download and install iTunes. If you don't already have iTunes installed on your computer, you can download and execute the installation file from Apple.com (see Resources).

2. Open "iTunes." An icon was placed on your desktop during installation. Double-click on it to open the program.

3. Add the song you want to embed with album art to your library by selecting "Add File" from the File menu and selecting the file from your hard drive. It will be added to the main iTunes library window.

4. Right-click on the song file. Select the option that reads "Get Info."

5. Click on the "Artwork" tab. Drag the album art from your computer to the main white area of the Artwork tab. This will embed the album art in the file. Click "OK" to save your changes. The artwork is now a permanent part of the MP3 file.
