How to Create an Email ID in Google

Google offers a host of products, including the Gmail email service.

Email has become a standard form of everyday communication for people all over the world, and Gmail is one of the most popular email services. As of March 2012, Gmail offers account holders approximately 7,600 MB of free storage space as well as a user-friendly interface allowing you to search “conversations” within Gmail. A service of Google, Gmail was originally available by invitation only. Now, signing up is free for anyone.

Instructions

1. Go to gmail.com and click the "Create an account" button.

2. Fill out the requested personal details such as your first and last name.

3. Place your desired login name information on the account form. The login name will be your email address. When you submit your information, Google will reject your request if the ID is already in use. Google will give you some suggestions to try. It might take several tries until you find a login name that is available.

4. Choose a password based on the Gmail criteria. There is a bar that will give you an idea of the strength of your password.

5. Choose a security question from the drop-down menu. There are several options available, so try to choose one that few people would know.

6. Provide an existing email address in the Other Email Address field. If you do not have another email address, this field can be left blank. Any email address you list will be used to verify the new address as an address where password information can be sent if you forget your password in the future.

7. Type the characters from the visual confirmation text into the appropriate field.

8. Check the box to agree to Goggle's terms of service and privacy agreements.

9. Click "Next."

10. Google will then ask you to verify your account information. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Tips & Warnings

• Choose a password containing both text and numerals. These passwords are hard to crack.

• Do not share your password with anyone.
