• Magnifying glass
• Safety pin
• Clear nail polish
• Cleaning cloth
• WD 40

How to Repair Spring-Hinged Eyeglass Frames

1. Examine the spring hinge using a magnifying glass.

2. Press the safety pin against the base of the screw from the underside of the spring-hinge.

3. Maintain pressure on the safety pin while backing the screw out. The temple hole and the chassis hole remain properly aligned throughout the process.

4. Re-insert the screw. Retreat the safety pin so the tension on the spring-hinge does not slip before the screw is seated.

5. Dab a little nail polish on the screw's head. Let it dry.

6. Cover the eye glass lens with a cleaning cloth. Spray a small amount of WD-40 or another lubricant on the screw. Wait one minute. Wipe off the excess.
