Things You'll Need:
- white vinegar, 5% acetic
- baking soda
- toilet bowl cleaner brush
-
Step 1
Pour a cup of white vinegar into the toilet bowl.
-
Step 2
Allow the vinegar to penetrate the area for at least 10 minutes. The acidity of this natural cleanser works to kill the majority (up to 99 percent!) of bacteria, mold, and germs.
If you’re interested in finding the numerous studies supporting household vinegar’s effectiveness as a disinfectant, a Google search of “studies vinegar kills bacteria site:.edu” will bring up relevant results. -
Step 3
Flush the toilet. (Doing this will prevent any accidental science experiment-like bubbling from occurring when you perform the next step.)
-
Step 4
Sprinkle roughly half a cup of baking soda into the toilet bowl. Cleaning with a toilet bowl brush, scrub all around the inside of the bowl as you normally would until the grim is gone.
-
Step 5
Put the toilet bowl cleaner brush back in its rightful place, store away the vinegar and baking soda, and give a final flush if company is coming over (or you just want clear water in the bowl). This household chore is officially over with!
