get the lice out

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

How to detect head lice. Head lice is very common in children age 3 to 10, who go to daycare, preschool, or elementary school.

  2. Step 2

Lice can be spread from person to person by sharing personnel items, brushes, hats, clothes. Lice move very fast and can spread by running fast from one person to the next while on an item, they do not jump or fly,

Lice lay eggs in a persons hair over and over again, Lice eggs are called NITS.

  3. Step 3

What do lice and NITS look like. If there has been a lice outbreak at your child's school check your child's head. Lice like to live behind the ears and in the back of the head. The Nits look like little pieces of pepper, yes that small. You can not see the actual lice because they are too small.

Check your child on a regular basis, especially if they are scratching their head.

How to prevent and get rid off head lice.

Wash all clothing and bedding that has been near the person with the lice. I suggest washing all the bedding in your home. Clothing is daily clothes, coats, hat, and car seats is possible. Wash all toys and stuffed animals. It you have items that can not be washed put them in sealed trash bad for 2 weeks. the lice can not live with out a host and will die on their own.

Call your doctor or go to your local pharmacy and pick up a Lice kit. Follow the directions exactly. Make sure you buy and use a lice comb. This helps get all the lice eggs out. You will see white flaky stuff when you use the come after shampooing, this stuff is the eggs.

You can also buy a spray to spray your furniture and any other items that can not be washed. If you have more children in the home you may want to shampoo and comb all of them. They also say you can put mayonnaise on your head over night with a plastic bag and it will help too.
