Things You'll Need:
- Fishing Pole and tackle
- Bait
- Place to fish

Step 1
The first thing in being successful at catching panfish is having the correct tackle. I would recommend using a small hook. I prefer to use size 6 hooks. If you decide to use a fishing bobber try and suspend your hook about 1 to 2 feet below your bobber. If you are not using a bobber and fishing on the bottom try and use the lightest weight possible that way you can feel every little nibble and tug on your line. Remember to keep your line tight to prevent missing a bite or nibble due to slack line.

Step 2
Choosing bait is not difficult at all when it comes to panfish. I have caught panfish on just about anything that will fit on the hook. night crawlers or any type of worm for that matter is what catches me the most panfish. But just don't stick to worms, panfish will eat corn, dry cat food, hot dogs, liver, small cut pieces of minnows, you name it they will probably eat it. Be adventures and try different things as bait. You will be surprised. Just make sure the bait fits on the hook.

Step 3
Finding where the panfish are located in the body of water should not be a problem. I have found that in my experience from fishing for panfish is that they are never far from the shore. I usually only cast out into about 3 to 7 feet of water. I have never had trouble catching them. I have seen people cast as far and as deep as they could and not catch a single panfish. Fishing around trees and brush in and near the water is usually a good place to try.

Step 4
Have fun. Panfish are fun to catch and and when fishing for them you can usually catch quite a few of them. Panfish are great for kids to learn the sport of fishing since it does not require much from the angler in the way of skill or equipment.
