Getting traffic to your blog is an important factor in the success of your blog. Whether you are just starting out as a blogger, or you are an experienced blogger, the more traffic that your blog receives, the better it will rank in searches by search engines. Blogging today is not a new idea and there are more than 100 million blogs out there. They are all competing with you for blog traffic. Getting traffic to your blog is not easy. It is hard work, but by following the right steps you can build up a good readership and become a successful blogger.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Post quality content frequently. The most important tool for building a successful blog is to post quality content frequently. Quality content is what people out there are looking for and want to read. Part of that quality is going to involve spelling and grammar, so you have to get that right. When posting on your blog, always make sure that what you are saying has meaning. Don't just be satisfied with writing content for the sake of posting frequently, because the quality of your writing will be seriously inadequate.

  2. Step 2

Blog submission to the search engines is definitely important for driving traffic to your blog. The reason that this is so important is because you won’t have to wait quite as long as you would just waiting for the search engines to find you. Some of the better search engines to submit your blog to include Google and Yahoo. By submitting to the search engines it will be more likely that they will find and pick up on the blog that you have put out there.

  3. Step 3

Comment on other blogs. Another great way to drive traffic to your blog is by commenting on blogs that other writers have out there especially on those who are discussing the same topics you are. A great tool for you when commenting is to link your blog to the comments you make on other blogs. The reason for this is if other readers like your comments they may click on your link and check out your blog. So always make sure your comments are very well written.

  4. Step 4

Tagging and keywords are very important for driving traffic to your blog. Tags are noticed by search engines when they are crawling the blogs, and the more tags you use the more information the search engines will have on your blog. Keywords are important for much the same reason. Keyword optimization of your blog for the search engines will get you excellent rankings on those engines.

on 6/21/2009 I agree with all of this, especially with commenting. I don't think people realize that following other blogs and commenting builds relationships. Therefore, you will have a steadier stream of traffic from this. Well done!
