It's that time of year again when smoke fills the air and colorful sparks light up the night! Each year the plan is to go somewhere to watch the firework show. Sit around in your beach/lawn chairs and relax. Well this year let's not make it so easy on ourselves. Since it is Independence Day we may as well celebrate independently. I know this sounds funny to some of you but this year lets put on our own firework show. See below on just a few of my suggestions on how to celebrate Independence Day this year with family and friends.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A Plan
  • Guests
  • Beach/lawn chairs
  • Grill/your share of food
  • Fireworks
  1. Step 1

Be sure to secure a plan that will see your 4th of July festivities through from start to finish. You don't want your guest waiting around wondering why this wasn't thoroughly planned out. A plan goes much smoother when you schedule your events.

  2. Step 2

Invite your guests and have them all bring along their share of fireworks as well as a dish i.e. hotdogs, buns, trash bags etc. During these hard economic times everything is potluck and it's fair to say that everyone should contribute to the cause wherever it is needed.

  3. Step 3

Be sure to remind your guests to bring along seating so that everyone can enjoy the show comfortably.

  4. Step 4

Plan your BBQ to take place during the day. Start early enough so that everyone is fed and has had enough to eat. The last thing you want to worry about when it's time to have fun is someone being hungry, and firing the grill back up.

  5. Step 5

Get your fireworks together and set them up accordingly. Get ready to have some fun!!! Don't forget to bring a handy amount of matches and some lighters as pumps aren't always as useful as they should be. Start off with some sparklers, next the big stuff and finish off with more sparklers. This is always a great way to end the night just when the children think that there is nothing left 'surprise'.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure to have plenty of matches, sometimes pumps don't work as fast as we'd like them to.
  • Be sure to keep an eye on children with sparklers as they have a tendency to point them at one another and also throw them while still lit.
  • BE BLESSED!
  • Do not allow children to play around the grill area and ask that the smaller children remain seated when lighting big fireworks. Let's keep the kiddies safe from all harm.
