Things You'll Need:
- White Vinegar
- Water
- Salt
- Cucumbers
- Fresh Garlic
- Fresh Dill heads

Step 1
Combine the following ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil:
1 cup vinegar
5 cups water
1/3rd cup salt
Some people add 1/2 cup of sugar as well. -
Step 2
Once the vinegar/salt/water (brine) has boiled, set aside and let cool completely.

Cucumbers ready for picklingWhile you are waiting for the brine to cool, take 5-6 fresh pickle sized cucumbers and slice lengthwise into wedges.

Step 4
A whole head of garlic & a few loose clovesPeel 1 head of garlic (about 10-20 cloves). Slice the garlic finely.

Step 5
A head of dill at flowering - almost ready for pickles!Put the cucumbers, garlic and 5 or 6 fresh heads of dill into a 1/2 gallon air-tight glass container. A 1/2 gallon jar works great.

Step 6
Pour the brine over the cucumbers, garlic and dill. Secure the cover and place in the refrigerator.

Step 7
After at least 24 hours, you can take your pickles out an enjoy them!

on 9/8/2009 This is very similar to the recipe my mom used when we made pickles! for a hot and spicy touch add more garlic and 1-2 red chile peppers, the longer you leave them the hotter they get... my absolute favorite way to eat pickles!
