July is a great month for celebrating ice cream. Having a month when the temperatures are high devoted to the celebration of such a delicious summer time treat makes those sweltering hot days a little more bearable. The third Sunday in July is actually Ice Cream Day. Even if you are on a diet or if your budget has experienced a trim, try to enjoy at least one cone of ice cream on ice cream day. Everyone deserves at least one cool treat on a hot summer day.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

If you have children, National Ice Cream Month provides you with a great opportunity for learning and teaching about the history of ice cream. It's also a good time to explore how ice cream is made.

  2. Step 2

Celebrate by experimenting with new flavors this month. Old favorites are great but you never know when you might discover a new favorite flavor.

  3. Step 3

Host an ice cream party. Ask the guest to bring an "out of the ordinary" flavor of ice cream with them. You can provide the cones and use the ice cream that the guests bring to create an ice cream buffet. A party such as this will be enjoyed by children and adults.

  4. Step 4

You can buy ice cream treats made especially for dogs in the ice cream section of the grocery store. Let your pet join in on the celebration with its own version of an ice cream treat.
