Plan A Cape Cod Vacation

Cape Cod is located about an hour away from Boston, Massacheusetts. This location is full of beaches, resorts, and fun things to do. Here are some ideas to get you started on planning your cape cod vacation.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Understand the different areas of Cape Cod. The first link below will show you a good basic map of Cape Cod. Read this map to plan your vacation. Understand that it takes less than 2 hours to get from on end of cape cod all the way to the other. So if you stay in one area you are not that far from the rest of Cape Cod.

  2. Step 2

Take the ferry if you want to visit the two islands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. For less than 100 dollars you can get a round trip ferry ticket to one of the islands. Sometimes you can find deals that will take you to both of the islands.

  3. Step 3

Visit a beach. Visiting the beach may be the biggest thing on your mind but there is much more to do. However, designate one day to relaxing on the beach. The sound of the waves hitting the shore and the seagulls are sure to allow you to relax. Some beaches have concession stands while others do not. Remember, Cape Cod is the home of a couple nude beaches so you will want to check which ones are nude and which ones are not. There is a link below for information.

  4. Step 4

Go Whale Watching. It is only 35 to $50 dollars to ride a big boat into the Atlantic Ocean and see whales. This experience is amazing and you should definitely check it out when you go on your Cape Cod vacation.

  5. Step 5

Get a good rate on a hotel. Search Orbitz, Priceline, or Expedia for cheap hotel deals. I personally have found Orbitz to be the best and the cheapest. Make sure that you read some of the reviews on each place. Some hotels are double the price if along the beach or harbor and claim to be much nicer than they actually are. Keep in mind, some reviews are bogus too though. Look at pictures and decide for yourself. Don't overpay. The Hilton in Boston is an hour away and is the same price as many dumpy hotels in Cape Cod along the harbor. Price check everything.

  6. Step 6

Visit Woods Hole. You will have to take the Trolley from the Falmouth Mall to get to Woods Hole. Once in Woods Hole you will be able to check out many animals, museums, and an amazing aquarium. There is very little parking in this small village but the visit is worth it. The Trolley only charges two dollars.

  7. Step 7

In Provincetown there are various Dunes trips. The trips are around 50 dollars and some of them offer a feast on the beach at sunset. Very nice and romantic. Cheap and well worth it.

  8. Step 8

Eat seafood. Nothing says Cape Cod like the tasty seafood treats you will find at various locations throughout the area. Be spontaneous with your eating and check out different places but try the seafood at least once.

  9. Step 9

Check out Boston. If you have never been, now is your chance. Boston is only an hour drive from Cape Cod and you should devote at least one day of your trip to visiting Boston.

  10. Step 10

Eat at Cheers while you are in Boston. Don't forget that the TV show Cheers was based on the Bull & Finch pub located in Boston. You may want to visit the pub and order something off the menu. Go where everybody knows your name. At least you can pretend that they do.
