Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • access to a shower with hot water, a warm compress or warm washcloth, patience, baby (the most important thing),plenty of fluids, the willingness to learn.
  1. Step 1

    step 1:
make sure to identify the exact location of the milk duct clog, after you find this clog make sure you massage the area of the clog towards the nipple (kind of like milking your own breast) it will be painful for a while and sore. but you MUST DO THIS if you want to stop this pain early and get rid of the problem. next is to ensure you breastfeed your child as often as possible. when you're feeding your new baby make sure you feed with the baby's chin situated pointed toward the location of the clog. in other words if the clog is on the outside of the breast you may have to hold the baby in the football position as opposed to the normal cradle position. it is imperative you feed your child at the location of the clog. this will ensure you are helping clear the clog as fast as possible. my wife reccomends you get a nipple guard for feeding. it is a silicone cover for your nipple! so you won't experience any nipple bleeding at the location of the feeding.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2:
make sure you are still massaging and in between feedings you apply a warm compress or take a hot shower. ensuring the warm water is flowing to the affected area. also it is very important that during your feeding times you have a nice quiet environment in which to do so.
like a bed. it is a great time for bonding. and you will need your rest!

  3. Step 3

    Step 3:
Drink PLENTY OF FLUIDS. my wife reccomends gatorade (tm) as it is packed with electrolytes! which will help your symptoms of nasuea.
the symptoms you will ancounter are:
pain, nausea, chills, Fever and dizziness.
basic flu like symptoms are normal.
this will subside if you follow my advice and be gone within 48 hours.
make sure you have some ibuprofren for pain relief and fever reduction. take accordingly ever 4-6 hours. or as directed on the bottled label.
