Male pattern baldness can be a nightmare for some guys and cause them to loose their confidence. If you're not the kind of person that wants to deal with shaving your head, there are some decent ways to prevent going bald. Hair loss is mostly genetic, and modern medicine does provide a few solutions to at least slow down the process.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The first step is to diagnose your cause of hair loss, because there are many different reasons for male pattern baldness. See a dermatologist, who will examine your hair and medical history.

  2. Step 2

The word rogaine is synonymous with preventing hair loss but it can actually be one of the best treatments to reverse male pattern baldness. The active drug, called minoxidil, is used to treat high blood pressure, but studies show that it actually can help men re-grow their by about %15 percent. The one drawback to rogaine is the fact that it has to be applied everyday.

  3. Step 3

**** is the only other drug that has been approved by the FDA. You will need to see a doctor to diagnose the cause of hair loss, but **** works by stopping the degeneration of the hair follicle. This may or may not be the cause of your personal balding, but a doctor will be able to tell you.

  4. Step 4

Cook your food with olive oil. Olive oil has been shown to help prevent hair loss in men and in some cases re-grow some hair.

  5. Step 5

DHT is a hormone found in men and women that is the biggest cause of going bald. There are supplements that help block this hormone from getting to your hair. The best one is a supplement called biotin. Biotin can be found online or at any local drug store.

  6. Step 6

If hair loss can't be stopped, scalp reduction and hair transplants have come a long way in recent years. Ask your dermatologist if you would be a good candidate for any of the popular surgical treatments.
