Do you often wonder how to buy a website or domain name? As a beginner, I often wondered if I could do this without having the knowledge of websites behind me. I found this was a very easy process and I didn't have to have a web background in order to do it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Ideas for a website name
  • Credit card to give to yahoo
  1. Step 1

Go to yahoo.com. If you do not already have a yahoo account you should sign up for one.

  2. Step 2

Scroll down on the left hand side of the screen until you find the "small business section. It will have the following information:
    Small Business
    Get a Web Site
    Domain Names
    Sell Online
    Search Ads

Click on: Get a Website. You will receive a pop up with some tutorials on yahoo web hosting. These tutorials show you how easy it is to build your own website (with their help). You will also see the costs listed on the right hand side. The prices are very reasonable especially for those that are beginners. I have invested around 26.00 for 3 months and I am in the process of building my site now.

  3. Step 3

Click on "sign up" on the right under the costs. This will bring up a page to help you find a domain name. Type in a name and click search. If your name is taken, it will give you suggestions of names that are similar to the one you put in. Click on the button with the name you have chosen and click continue. You will be directed to the yahoo sign in page. Put in your user name and password.

  4. Step 4

Put in your billing information for the transaction. Don't worry it will confirm everything before you need to submit the payment. Check to make sure everything is correct before continuing. Review and confirm your order. It is that simple. You will receive an email confirmation. You will still have some work to do to get your site up and running but you will officially have a domain name and website. Congratulations and have fun.
