Everyone wants to be happy, but aside from those fleeting moments when everything is going right, how do we get there? The answer is simple. You can chose happiness at any and every moment. Once you decide to chose happiness, and practice it regularly, you'll have the power to transform your life!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Understand that happiness is a choice. Many people are unaware that they have power over their emotions, not vice versa. You chose the way you respond to life. Start by concentrating on our thoughts. Replace negative thoughts and feelings with positive ones and see how your live improves!

  2. Step 2

Shift your perspective. By reframing how you perceive things, you can help choose happiness. For example, if someone cuts you off in traffic, you can chose to go into a rage, or you can decide to smile, recognize that you've made driving mistakes too, and let it go. The outcome remains the same (you've still been cut off), but the choice was happiness.

  3. Step 3

Be kind. You really do get what you give. One of the most powerful ways to choose happiness is to practice kindness. This doesn't have to mean going out of your way for every person you meet. It can be as simple as a smile and a wave. When you give kindness, you get kindness.

  4. Step 4

Practice gratitude. If you're choosing gratitude, you're choosing happiness. Focus on all the blessings in your life rather than what you perceive to be the negatives. Choosing happiness means to stop waiting for things to improve and recognize that happiness is not a goal, but a state of being that is always possible at every moment.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep a list of all the things you're grateful for, and add to it daily.
  • Write down any persistent negative thoughts you have and practice replacing them with positives.
  • See yourself as a whole, valuable human being right now rather than a work in progress who will be awesome in the future. Life is now!
