Things You'll Need:
- Twitter account
-
Step 1
First, make sure you have an active profile. Click over to http://twitter.com/ and fill out the “Get Started – Join” button and follow the prompts. The more you interact on the site, the easier it will be to get new followers and find new opportunities.
-
Step 2
Use the search box to look up jobs. In the white search box (on the right side of the page) enter the terms “freelance writing jobs,” or “blogging jobs” “blog jobs” or “copywriter.” Twitter will pull up any posts that contain that term.
-
Step 3
Put your request for jobs “out there.” Tweet your request to find freelance writing jobs, and see who responds. Vary your tweets for different times and days. Also, include some of your qualifications in your tweet, such as “Need a tech writer? I’ve got 15 years exp.”
-
Step 4
Look up companies you wish to work for, and follow them on Twitter. Follow their tweets and open up a dialog. If you see an opening in the online conversation to present your skills, do so in a way that lets them know what you could bring to the table.
-
Step 5
Connect with other writers on Twitter. Look up writers with Just Tweet It (http://justtweetit.com/writers-authors/) and discuss the task of finding jobs. Most writers are more than happy to let others know about new opportunities.
